Technical & Tasting Notes

Technical & Tasting Notes

VITICULTURE

A blend of three great Pinot Noir clones: 777, MV6 and D5V12, sourced from varying elevations and aspects on the vineyard.

WINE MAKING

A portion was fermented on indigenous yeast with some whole bunches included in the ferment. It was then matured for 12 months in French Oak Barriques.

TASTING NOTES

A lovely nose of plum and cherry with spice and floral notes. The palate is creamy and generous with vibrant cherry, strawberry and savoury notes. The wine is wonderfully textural with silky, polished tannins on the long finish.

Reviews

Vintage 2018

“..Excellent colour, deep and clear; all the plum and cherry all-sorts you could wish for, discretely supplied by fine tannins and oak.” James Halliday

“.. Full of black cherries, spice, along with hints of sweet vanilla and some smokiness adds to the complexity of the nose. The palate follows through with soft tannins, integrated sweet fruit and well-balanced acidity. Vibrant in colour and vibrant in texture and flavour.” Stephen Read, Wine Matrix

“Bright and youthfully charming, the wine offers lifted aromas of sweet cherry, plum, floral and mixed spice on the nose, leading to a juicy palate that is beautifully rounded and flowing. Elegant and soothing with a lovely silky finish.” Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Vintage 2016

“..distinctly but pleasantly savoury, with the whole bunch inclusion working well. The flavours span red, blue and purple fruits, neither tannins nor oak stepping out of line..” James Halliday

Vintage 2015

“The seductive bouquet shows spiced cherry, dried flowers, mixed spice and almond characters with hints of truffle and floral notes. The palate delivers refined mouthfeel and elegant fruit weight, wonderfully supported by silky texture and plenty of polished tannins. Restrained and complex, and offers layers of delightfully intriguing flavours.” – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

” ..Jason Brown pinpoints the Coppabella brands with deadly precision, over-delivering on quality..” James Halliday

Vintage 2014

“It has just enough fruit and just enough weight to make you take notice. Reductive elements lend a hand to stewed cherry, plum and leather notes, with assorted spices and herbs doing their best to elevate the status of the wine….” – James Halliday

Do you have a cellar door?

I’m afraid not, at this stage our primary focus is on the vineyard. We are committed to a continued effort, to invest and improve upon our vineyard site because we see so much potential in it. And to be honest, we enjoy being low-key (probably why it’s taken us 5 years to create this website)!

Where can I buy your wines?

We make small batch artisanal wines, and we choose to work with independent outlets that share a similar passion for quality over profit. Yes, you can opt to have your wine left without a delivery signature however, Coppabella doesn’t accept any responsibility for wines once they’ve been delivered by the courier company.

If you aren’t home at the time of delivery, and you haven’t opted for your wine to be left unattended then it will be redirected to your local post office and a delivery notification will be left in your letterbox.

Which delivery company do you use?

Our preferred courier is Australia Post (depending on freight rates and delivery times) but others may be used upon request – please contact us for more information via orders@coppabella.com.au or 02 6382 7997
